AS Spring 2024 – 2025 Elections:

Spring 2024 Candidates:

President of Student Senate:

Emily Kim

Hi Hornets! My name is Emily Kim, and I am running to be President of the Associated Students. Throughout my time at Fullerton College, I have served in active roles for various organizations that have deepened my understanding and dedication to our community. As a current Student Senator for Associated Students, I’ve had the privilege of representing the student voice on campus. Additionally, I serve as a student assistant for the Honors Program in the Transfer Center, where I collaborate with faculty to promote an accessible transfer path and assist students with their academic needs. Recently, I have served as the Public Relations Officer for the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Club. In this position, I have enhanced student engagement by promoting campus-wide events and creating a safe, inclusive environment for students to connect and build community. In addition, I currently serve as a student representative for the Honors Advisory Committee and as a member of the Activities Committee. As your President, I am committed to amplifying the voices of every student and ensuring that all perspectives are heard, understood, and valued. It is essential to foster an environment where diversity is celebrated, and inclusivity is at the forefront of everything we do. If elected, I am eager to continue serving our community and working together to make our campus an even brighter place where every student feels seen, understood, and supported. Thank you for your time and consideration.

With Gratitude,

Emily Kim

Max Hernandez

Hello! I am Max Hernandez, and I am running for President of Associated Students. This year I had the role as VP of Records, making me the sole freshman to have an executive position in AS. Chairing the Judicial Committee, representing the Associated Student body in the Faculty Senate, and having gone to 2 statewide student government conferences, I am well prepared to take on the role as President. I aim to transform Fullerton College into a much more social and vibrant campus. I will also be advocating for improvements in key areas, such as food, transportation, modernization, and professor accountability. Every voice will be heard, and no student will be left behind. Remember, as students, we all have power in our voices. Together, let’s amplify our impact and create a better future for our college community.

Vice President of Student Senate:

Ashley Cheng

Hello everyone! My name is Ashley Cheng and I am eager to serve as your next Vice President of Student Senate. I was an active member of the student senate and a representative for several committees last semester. These experiences have prepared me for the duties of a Vice President. My leadership experiences as the Co-Vice President of Nutrition Club and the Director of Membership of AGS have taught me how to communicate effectively and work with others. By voting for me, you are choosing a candidate that is dedicated to improving our community, ensuring representation, and prioritizing student opinions. For example, I plan to advocate for the continuation of FREE lunch, bus passes, parking, and more. I firmly believe that my skills and dedication make me the best candidate for Vice President. With your support, we can enhance everyone’s college experience. Thank you for your time and consideration!

Best,

Ashley Cheng

Ashley Moon

Dear fellow students,

My name is Ashley Moon, and I’m running for the position of Vice President of the Student Senate. While I may not have an extensive background in academic leadership, having worked as a manager at a local cafe and taught vocabulary at a part-time academy, I bring a fresh perspective and a sincere commitment to serving our student community.

Admittedly, like many of you, I was unaware of the Student Senate’s existence until recently. My experience at Fullerton College initially felt transient, focused solely on academic pursuits and occasional visits to the Campus Safety building to settle parking tickets. However, over the past few years, I’ve come to appreciate the vibrant diversity and richness of our student body. Every day, I am inspired by the stories, backgrounds, and aspirations of my fellow students.

I believe that by joining the Student Senate, I can contribute meaningfully to our collective experience. If elected, I promise to be a dedicated advocate for your voices and concerns. I will work closely with the cabinet and other committees to ensure that your perspectives shape our school’s policies and initiatives. Whether it’s amplifying your ideas, addressing your needs, or championing your causes, I am committed to representing you with integrity and diligence.

I approach this opportunity with humility and a willingness to learn. Your trust in me would not only be an honor but also a responsibility I take seriously.

Thank you for considering me for Vice President of the Student Senate. I look forward to serving you to the best of my ability.

 Warm regards,

Ashley Moon

Vice President of Finance:

Denise Leonen

Hello Hornets! I’m Denise Leonen, and I’m excited to be running for your Associated Students Vice President of Finance. As a candidate, deeply committed to ensuring financial transparency, accountability, and sustainability within our student government. With a strong background in financial management and a passion for driving fiscal responsibility, I am ready to serve our community and make a positive impact. Currently pursuing an associates degree in Computer Science, I naturally gravitate towards handling numbers with precision and attention to detail. Beyond my academic pursuits, I’m an active member of the STEM SLC community, serve as a coding instructor to younger students, and engage in outside research. I am dedicated to serving our organization with integrity, diligence, and a commitment to excellence. I humbly ask for your vote to help me bring these qualities to the role of Vice President of Finance. Fun Fact: I’m the proud owner of two adorable pet chinchillas!

Vice President of Activities:

Christopher Quinones

Hello folks! I’m Christopher Quinones, I’m a first-generation college student and my majors are Child Development. I’m a huge food adventurer and love to try new and all kinds of different cuisines. I have a few hobbies which include any hands-on art projects, being in the garden or outdoors. I’m deeply motivated to be the voice of change and want to give the students a sense of purpose and belonging on campus and in the district. For this campaign, I bring forth a blend of diversity, cultural richness, and an unyielding commitment to fighting for the rights of all. With passion and patience as my fuel, I stand ready to engage, to empower, and to enact meaningful change. Together, let us build a future where every voice is heard, every right is upheld, and every individual is valued.

Dani Soto

Hello everyone, my name is Dani Soto and I am running for Vice President of Activities, I am well suited for this position because I have helped manage many clubs on campus. Including Jiu Jitsu club, ASL club, and Fashion club. I am always on campus attending events as well. I have also organized events with the help of faculty and staff before, for the fashion orientation of Fall 2022. So for those reasons I believe I have what it takes to help the school! Thank you for your support.

Natalie Ngo

Hello Hornets! My name is Natalie Ngo and I am running for your Associated Students Vice President of Activities. I am committed to fostering an inclusive and vibrant campus at Fullerton College through engaging and diverse events that will cater to the interests and passion of the students. I am currently Majoring in Psychology, pursuing associate degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies in Social Science and Interdisciplinary Studies in Social Behavior & Development. I have past experience as Activities Coordinator in High school. Together, let’s create memorable experiences!

Vice President of Records:

Adam Delatorre

Hello, my name is Adam Delatorre and I am running for the role of Vice President of Records. I have been participating in AS meetings since the first semester of my freshman year, and recently got sworn in as a member. My past experience in taking responsibility was being the Vice President of a club called “We Dine Together” which was dedicated to finding lonely students around the school and helping them feel comfortable in the environment. When the president was unable to make it, I did the meetings in his place. I am also part of a trade which consists of helping build houses. The work experience teaches me responsibility, following directions, and taking action. I am interested in the VP of Records role because my brother is the current VP of Records, and with him to mentor me for the next semester, I am well equipped for the role. I am looking forward to helping our school become unified and stronger for the far future!

Aiden Alicea

What’s up, Hornets! I’m Aiden Alicea and I’m seeking to be your Vice President of Records again as I am truly passionate and knowledgeable about accountability. As an Anaheim resident who saw the corruption scandal unfold in his own community, I know that a lack of transparency hinders responsiveness and public trust in government all too well. As your VP of Records, you can be rest assured that my commitment to upholding transparency will be brought to our school. As a civically-engaged Student Senator, I’ve had opportunities to attend workshops about agenda taking and parliamentary rule. It’s one thing to know what transparency is in theory; it’s another to know how it is in practice. I’ve been fortunate to see how meetings are recorded at several levels, including our own AS Student Senate, local city halls, and the statewide General Assembly of the Student Senate of California Community Colleges (SSCCC.) I will apply my extensive knowledge from those experiences to comply with the Brown Act, a state law that dictates how governing bodies should conduct themselves in the public’s best interests. Aside from that, I’m also the Secretary for the Political Science Student Association where I connect with community organizers and nonprofits in north Orange County. I also work at the Transfer Center, connecting students to the opportunities and resources offered by the Center and 4-year-institutions! If my time here has shown me anything, it’s that information should be accessible, accurate, and timely to all students. It would be an honor to carry out that vision for you.

Much gratitude,

Aiden Alicea

Vice President of Public Relations:

Lola Martinez

Hey Hornets! My name is Lola Martinez and I am a first year here at Fullerton College running for VP of Public Relations! I am currently majoring in Communications and have fallen in love with the power and space social media has today. Spreading awareness and encouraging participation on campus, especially at a commuter school, is so important to me. In the past, I have worked with Girls Inc. of Orange County to provide and participate in STEM and career workshops designed for girls from kindergarten to freshman in college to help encourage participation and to provide support for girls in STEM! Our goal was to provide hands-on experience in the workplace and to encourage networking early! Additionally, my experience as a Student Senator this year has shown me the importance of student representation and leadership on campus and how invaluable it is to get involved! If elected as VP of Public Relations I would strive to keep a clear and organized social media that provides attention to all of the wonderful opportunities Fullerton College offers on campus and would work closely with on campus organizations to support and bring awareness to the events they provide for students like you and me! If you see me around campus feel free to say hi and ask me questions!

Aidan Garcia

Hello Hornets! My name is Aidan Garcia and I am running to be your Vice President for Public Relations at F.C.! Being involved on campus throughout my first year here has made me recognize my passion for promoting community with one another and standing in solidarity with our fellow students. Driven by my commitment to equity and dedication in community college, working with President Olivo and the counseling faculty as the student representative for our Hispanic Serving Institution Team has made me realize the importance of promoting connection and communication. Seeing first hand how access to information can impact one’s educational career has driven me to improve that access to the maximum. Through my involvement with the Puente Program, I recognize the vitality of being given adequate resources to achieve our goals as community college students and as a result, I hope to improve this connection for all students as Vice President of Public Relations. I will work so each individual feels seen, valued, and welcomed by promoting a deeper connection to our campus community and all the opportunities it holds. As chair of the Communications Committee, I hope to illuminate all parts of campus life. My aim is to improve awareness of all resources, activities, and opportunities Fullerton has to offer. If elected as Vice President, I am eager to do as much as possible to uplift students as much as possible. Thank you!

Student Trustee:

Sharon Kim

Hi Hornets! My name is Sharon Kim and I am running to be your Student Trustee for the 2024-2025 Term! I am heading into my second year at Fullerton College, and during this past year I have been actively involved in the school’s student senate, where I have learned about the needs of the students attending the school and the various issues that many face daily.
Currently, I am working towards getting an associate degree in Business Administration, and beyond the classroom, I work two jobs (one as a server and another as a private tutor. Because of this, I bring with me not only my academic pursuits but also an understanding of the diverse needs and struggles that students face. During this past year, I have had the privilege of meeting and connecting with individuals in various paths of life, and I have been able to see the unique obstacles and aspirations that students hold. I have also had the opportunity to attend this year’s California Community College General Assembly Conference, where I was able to see the technical aspects of creating resolutions that can eventually become laws that affect college students from all different backgrounds. I was inspired as I saw the voices of students be heard, and I realized that change is possible in these institutions.
As I run to be Student Trustee, I can assure you that I will do my best to advocate for a better college experience and help to amend the issues and burdens that hinder the success of students. Maybe it is the tutor in me that’s speaking, but I feel passionately that everyone deserves to have an education, and I believe my multifaceted experiences, coupled with my genuine passion for the livelihoods of students, uniquely qualify me to represent the student body as your Student Trustee. I am thoroughly dedicated to helping provide students with the best possible experience they can have at this school, and if entrusted with this responsibility, I am committed to amplifying student voices and advocating for initiatives that promote student success and well-being.

Amanda Rivada

Over this past year at Fullerton College, the community of students and faculty have created a space where I’ve been able to develop my interests and values both deeply and authentically. Countless classmates and faculty members have shown me compassion, humor, and intelligence that I aspire to. If elected, I would be in a position where I could represent and give back to the community that has dutifully supported me in my own individual growth and exploration. The student body at Fullerton College is an immensely diverse and intersectional community. As student trustee, I would spend my time seeking out and elevating underrepresented student voices and perspectives.

I am pursuing a Biotechnology associate degree at Fullerton College and am passionate about learning about possible technological developments meant to better our environment and quality of life. In addition to this, I am deeply interested in public policy and how it affects the lives of women, LGBTQ+ communities, international students, undocumented students, minority groups, and low-income groups. Policy shapes lives. If elected, I would be endlessly grateful and proud to represent the Fullerton College community as student trustee.

Dana Rose Crystal

I am Dana Rose Crystal, long-time re-entry student with experience in student government and various courses. I want to serve the school, district and community in which I live and work. I came to Fullerton College to gain skills and education not only to earn a living but to participate in society; I want my voice heard, especially where it is needed. Everyone needs to become involved with their community and be open to hearing the needs and views of others. We are all in the same “lifeboat” planet Earth, so all are stakeholders in its present and future. As a long-time re-entry student, with multiple majors to complete, I have an especially strong need for involvement. Student government is meant for us to share in decision-making such as hiring personnel, funding of programs which need a knowledgeable, and unintimidated student voice. The Student Trustee is empowered to speak on behalf of all students; to advocate for improvements in our education and for teachers and staff who genuinely support us.  I’d advocate for empowerment of ALL students. Many are vulnerable and marginalized, and intimidated from seeking help and guidance. Each student must be recognized as a real person, with a real face/identity and individual struggles and needs. No one should have to fear for their safety, nor be marginalized in society nor employment nor in education. I support genuine diversity: everyone gets a seat at the table with their voice heard and concerns addressed.   Please elect me as Student Trustee.
